Minimalist movement has been gaining traction all across the world, and i am no exception. I am quite big fan of minimizing your possessions and reducing them to very basic necessities. And it’s still good to simplify those basic things you keep. That’s the very reason why i’m writing this post. I think simplified golf club sets are the key to becoming better golfer, and let me explain why i think so.

First of all, it is so much easier to keep track of 8 golf clubs and so is taking care of them. Unlike whole set of clubs, minimalist approach doesn’t require you to have golf push cart either, your bag is so light that it can be easily carried on your shoulder. Some people find carrying your own golf bag horrifying, but i’ve done it and trust me, if you get rid of all unnecessary golf gear, carrying your club set is very easy and quite healthy.

Second of all, price is directly proportional to number of clubs in your golf set, so by choosing to have 8 clubs you also cut your costs in half. Let’s take Callaway Strata sets as an example. 18 piece club set, which includes about 11 clubs, costs almost 400$, while 12 piece set, which comes with 8 clubs only, costs 200$. Keep in mind that all features like golf bags and headcovers are the same.

Third of all, having only handful of golf clubs is less confusing. Most people quickly give up on golf because they don’t understand all the slangs, rules and whole concept of game, so i think this is quite important. With full set of fourteen clubs, beginners are usually confused and don’t know which one to use. But it is much easier to explain the concept of irons, woods and driver when you only have 8 clubs, and it actually starts to make sense earlier. If you’re looking for best beginners golf club set, make sure it doesn’t confuse you with too much options.

Now let’s talk about the actual set, how can you put it together, or where can you buy it. There are a lot of opinions out there, about which combination of clubs works the best together, but personally, i think that if you are a beginner, buying individual golf clubs for your set is a bad idea, and let me tell you why. Obviously, you have no experience choosing golf clubs, and choosing individual golf clubs to go together in your bag is so much harder than just buying pre-made golf club set. I highly recommend Callaway Strata or Wilson’s set, but any of them mentioned here will do just fine.

Bottom line is that with so many advantages, i don’t think anyone on their right minds should consider anything  but affordable Strata golf sets. They are great for starters and don’t cost that much at all, at least compared to other clubs.
